The Application of E-coating and Powder Coating in Bike Racks

Both E-coating and powder coating adhere to a coating on the metal surface to achieve rust prevention. What are the differences between them in the application of the parking rack?

E-coating is to immerse a conductive object in an electrophoretic coating tank diluted with water as a cathode (or cathode), and a corresponding cathode (or anode) is disposed in the tank at the two poles. After a period of time when the direct current is turned on, a special coating method is formed on the surface of the object to be coated, which is uniform and fine, and is not dissolved by water.


Powder coating is to spray the powder coating onto the surface of the object by a powder spraying device (electrostatic spray machine). Under the action of static electricity, the powder is uniformly adsorbed on the surface of the object to form a powder coating.

E-coating has several advantages comparing with powder coating:
1. High paint utilization rate. In theory, it can reach 100%. In actual production, it can reach 95% or even higher.
2. The swimming ability is good. Some metal parts have cavities or sharp corners. For these areas, if powder coating takes a long time, the paint is wasted more and there is no spray. Electrophoretic paint can effectively coat these areas in a short period of time.
3. Since the electrophoretic coating is performed under an electric field, the substrate hardly causes a leak point.

Therefore, E-coating can be used while there is a higher anti-rust requirement for the bike racks, or while there is anti-rust requirement for the inside of the pipe. Powder coating or other treatment can be still performed on the basis of the demand.
